Landscapes

Treasured Places

There are places we don’t want to leave; times spent there that we don’t want to end. These places were there before we were and will stick around long after we’re gone. Landscapes make us. Painting them allows us to travel through time and space, and return to when and where we want. Whether I choose a traditional approach or something more novel, a 180 vista or a 360 panorama, I want to capture the light, mood and associations of a landscape. My landscapes are often the settings for the journey of my life — Ripon, Masham, Newton, Leeds — or those holiday destinations where I could have happily missed the flight home.
