Sketches in Pencil and Ink

A Lot of Paris and a Little Leeds

Sketches are either little rehearsals for a bigger picture, or a sort of diary. Some are quick disposable doodles; others become an afternoon of deliberate eyeballing.

Here is a selection I made in Paris. Everything is new when you’re on holiday. And everything becomes new when you sketch it. So sketching on holiday is joy-squared.

Oh, and I’ve thrown in a few from Roundhay Park, Leeds. They were made after the blizzards of December 2010. Snow gave strangers an excuse to unite. Adults became children again. Glorious.
